The San Pitch River originates in the mountains (39.77406N 111.42184W) northeast of Milburn and drains (65 miles, 104 km) south southwest through Gunnison Reservoir and on into the Sevier River at (39.15221N 111.87582W) near Gunnison. The river was named for a chief of the San Pitch (Sanpitch, Sampitch) tribe or clan of the Piute Indians who lived along the river. The river contains rainbow and brown trout. G.
