La Plata (Cache) was near Paradise on the East Fork of the Little Bear River in the Bear
River Mountains. In 1891silver ore was discovered there by a sheepherder named Johnson. Today it is a ghost town site located on private property. It is recorded that one of the mail riders between La Plata and Huntsville was David O. McKay, who later became a president of the Mormon Church. "La Plata" is Spanish for silver.
