STOCKMORE Stockmore (Duchesne) was at the junction of the Duchesne River and its West Fork. This community was allegedly planned for development during the land rush of 1905. A Mr. Stockman and Mr. Moore "founded" the town and advertised lots for sale by displaying gold nuggets that came from "Stockmore." Stockman and Moore fled when federal marshals entered the scene. Today the U.S. Forest Station is on the site. John W. Van Cott |
