The Spanish Fork River (Utah) originates at Thistle, the junction of Soldier and Thistle creeks, and drains through Spanish Fork Canyon into Utah Lake. The early Spaniards named the river El Rio de Aquas Calientes, "the Fiery River", most likely for the nearby hot springs. The river name was later changed to the Spanish Fork River as a reflection to the region's early Spanish history. |
