SHAUNTIE Shauntie (Beaver) is a ghost town site at the head of Shauntie Wash in the southeast section of the Star Range, fourteen miles southwest of Milford. In 1870 it was a miner's tent town. After 1876 the settlement declined as the nearby mines were worked out. It was eventually abandoned. The name is of Piute Indian origin and means "much" or "a whole lot." John W. Van Cott |
