MONARCH

Monarch (Duchesne) is a small community four and one-half miles west southwest of Neola. Mrs. Lee Brown suggested the name because she said that sometimes in the future the town would be the "monarch of all it surveyed." Today it is a small scattered community in a gas- and oil-producing region.
