Independence (Wasatch) proposed to be east of U.S. 40 in Daniels Canyon, filed for incorporation October 12, 2007 but was denied by county officials October 24, 2007 for an incomplete land survey. On December 17, 2007 a new petition was submitted but again denied this time because of insufficient population. By March of 2008 the law had been ammended by the legislature yet again and on April 2, 2008 the request for incorporation was granted.
