IGNACIO

Ignacio (Uintah) was a stage stop on U-45 where it crosses the White River, three miles south of Bonanza. Today it is a ghost town site. In 1905 Ignacio was built to house maintenance workers and bridge tenders, in addition to being a toll stop for the bridge and toll road built form Dragon to Vernal. The gilsonite operation was the primary reason for this activity. An early name for Ignacio was White River Crossing.
