History of Hyrum,Utah
Taken from the Utah Place Names.

HYRUM

Hyrum is eight miles south of Logan on U-163, U-101, and U-242. The name was suggested by David Osborn when plans were made to build another city nearby that was to be named Joseph. The towns would honor both Joseph, the Mormon prophet, and his brother Hymn. The city of Joseph never materialized.
