Holladay is a southeast suburb of Salt Lake City. It is bounded on the north by Forty-eighth South, on the south by Cottonwood Lane, and on the west by Highland Drive. In 1847 and 1848 the pioneers called it Spring Creek because they settled along the creek which runs through the region. The settlement was then called Holladay Field, and Holladay Settlement or Burgh. In 1911 it was formally named for John Holladay, an early settler. The spelling on early maps was Holiday, but was later changed. |
