Deseret is an agricultural community on U-257, nine miles south-west of Delta. The settlement was established in 1860 and received its name from nearby Fort Deseret. "Deseret" is a term from Mormon scripture meaning "honeybee." In March 1891, Deseret was divided into three communities: Oasis, Deseret (in the center), and Bloomington (later known as Hinckley) on the Northwest.
