COPPERFIELD Copperfield was in the south fork of Bingham Canyon, southwest of Salt Lake City. Copperfield was an alpine mining town established in 1929 and named for the rich copper ore mined in Bingham Canyon. The town was once known as Upper Bingham, but was eventually overrun by the ever-expanding open-pit copper mine. Copperfield was completely evacuated by the 1950-55 period. John W. Van Cott |
