Bridgeland (Duchesne) is a scattered agricultural community nine miles east of Duchesne on the old highway (now U-86). The community center is located where the highway crosses the river on an important bridge built in the early 1900s. Mileage was measured from this point during the early days of the town. William Smart recommended the name Bridgeland. The bridge drew neighboring communities Antelope and Arcadia closer together.
