Blacksmith Fork Creek (Cache) originates in the Monte Cristo Mountains east of Ant Valley, three and one-half miles southeast of the Hardware Ranch. The creek drains northwest through Blacksmith Fork Canyon into the Logan River. There are two versions of the name source. One comes from an incident where Jedediah Smith and his party had to return to a set of cached blacksmith tools in the canyon in order to re-shoe their horses. The other version is that the fork was named after Andrew Anderson, a blacksmith.
