Bennett (Uintah) is six and one-half miles south of Whiterocks and five miles northeast of Roosevelt. It was one of the many townsites laid out shortly after the Uintah Basin was opened to homesteading in 1905. The site was officially laid out in 1914 but had been settled earlier by John B. Bennett. Before that, James Jones filed for a townsite which he wanted to name Cuneal. He was not successful.
