Arinosa (Tooele) is nineteen miles east of Wendover in the heart of the Salt Flats. Today it is a seldom-used siding with no permanent residents on the Western Pacific Railroad near I-80. In the 1880s it was a railroad maintenance camp, but it was abandoned in 1955 partly because it lacked culinary water and because of improved transportation. The exact source of the name is unknown but it is probably a corruption of the Spanish "arido" meaning "dry" or "arid".
