Arcadia (Duchesne) is west of U-86, four and one-half miles north of Bridgeland. Arcadia was settled in 1908. The name was suggested by William H. Smart who was president of the Duchesne Mormon Stake at that time. The word refers to an ancient Greece region of quiet pastoral beauty and simple pleasures. It was previously named Red Cap for a chief of the Ute Tribe.
