History of Altus, Utah
Courtesy of Utah Place Names.

Altus (Summit) was located at what is presently Parleys Summit, the highest point along the highway between Salt Lake City and Park City. Altus was settled in 1900 as a temporary way station, but was soon abandoned. It completely disappeared after the I-80 freeway was built.
