BEAR RIVER

Bear River is on U-84 along the Bear River about eight miles south of Tremonton. It was initially settled in 1866 by Scandinavian Mormon converts who were assigned to live in this area by their church. Their first homes were dugouts. The settlers drew their community name from the nearby river.
